Contrary to Honeywell this unit pulses air from the get go That would be with all new filters that came with the unit From Honeywell s site concerning this unit model it should only pulse when the filters require changing

The unit makes quite a bit of noise on low speed enough to compete with the TV and conversation if placed in the same room We have it in an unused bedroom not sure how good it will do there for cleaning air in the rooms we do use

The image shows that the unit is brown however we received the more pleasant white color

I regret the purchase and will be purchasing a whole house filter unit that attaches to the central air unit s air handler

All that being said it appears to be cleaning air so one star off for being excessively loud on low speed


UPDATE 01/10/10 I became used to the sound of the unit fairly quick It is still noticable but not too annoying since considering it is doing a job The unit does clean the air in a 20x20 area very good no doubt about that It appears the filters do not require any maintenance for 90 days and then only light vacumming/blowing now and then before a yearly replacement Also this particular unit utilizes a CPZ canister that reduces smoke and odors I retract my initial review above and rate this a five star product

Air O Swiss Model 2055D is touted as both a humidifier and air cleaner I purchased for humidification as the design of the unit moves to little air to be very effective as an air cleaner Initially the unit made an annoying clicking sound as the discs rotated This sound was reported by others and appears to be inherent in the plastic gear mechanism relying on the rather light weight of the unit bearing down on the gear to engage movement After a few weeks and some silicone stopcock grease the clicking was gone and the unit is quite quiet As for humididy I have always laughed at the square footage ratings of these units as the cubic feet at a particular temperture would be the most consistent rating for all units With that said the area being humidified is 550 ft sq with 10ft ceiling thus 5500 cubic feet The unit has a hard time keeping humidity at 40 in this room at outdoor tempertures below 32F I ve used only RO water in the unit and it has had no fouling nor deposit build up no dust build up on the discs either thus I am dubious of it air cleaning
Regardless the cleaning cycle lights still illuminate as they are on a timer rather than a conductive cell Overall the unit is well made thus my positive rating There are many less expensive units such as the Honeywell towers that do just as well humidifying but last only a season or two

I bought this unit hoping that it could keep the humidity in my small Colorado apartment someplace around 50 to keep my instruments happy and healthy I figured this might be worth the price if it worked but unfortunately the unit went back to the store the second day I had it On day one I left it running on the lower quiet overnight in a largely sealed apartment and according to both the built in hygrometer and a separate one it wasn t even able to hit 40 humidity Unfortunately the stronger setting is also as loud as my dishwasher and thus not suitable for constant use I m also concerned about cleaning it and frankly if I m going to pay 300 I used a coupon I m going to expect a great deal more results

If the air cleaner approach is required I d recommend the Venta line as I used their middle of the line model without problems for around a year It too can t reliably put out enough humidity to control humidity changes and they lack any kind of hygrometer switch but they re much more quiet and the model I had was nearly 150 cheaper

So nice try Air O Swiss but a machine this expensive is going to need to be a great deal quieter and effective

I purchased the Austin Air Purifier about a month ago I did a lot of research on air purifers and decided on the Austin Allergy Machine because it got high reviews at handling tobacco smoke All I can say is Wow It has made an incredible difference in the air quality in my condo I use the unit in the Living Room/Dining Room/Kitchen areas since they are all open and attached The unit works great to eat up tobacco smoke cooking odors dust etc I am a light smoker and you would never know it with this unit on you don t see or smell anything Gone is the haze and smell from the smoke I love the color sandstone and it actually looks good in the room The only drawback and it is not bad is the noise level On low it is fine but on medium/high it can be kind of loud to watch TV so I keep the unit on low when I am home and turn it up to high when I leave It is maintenance free all you have to do is vacuum the outside vents that is it No filters to wash replace etc The filter is good for 3 5 years I can t recomend this unit enough especially for those who smoke or are affected by second hand smoke

When the unit was delivered all I had to do is take it out of the box and turn it on There is nothing to put together it is ready to go Talk about easy I also like that is has wheels on the bottom of the unit This makes it very easy to move around the room I don t think anyone would have a problem moving it around

Overall I give this unit 5 stars It is easy to use does an excellent job of purifiying the air sturdy made by a reliable company and at a great price

The Austin Air Healthmate is the best I ve ever owned One large unit is enough for our entire house It reduces or even eliminates odors from our cat s litter box and makes the stale air in our home fresher when we return from a couple of days away We run it in the bedroom at night and wake up feeling healthier than we did before we got one of these It s quiet on the lowest setting and a little loud but very powerful on the highest setting There s easy maintenance just vacuum the outside once a month Replacement filters are a little on the expensive side around 200 but well worth it The salesperson that sold us ours said we d have to replace the filter every five years We run ours constantly and had to replace it after three years I think the expense is still worth it as the quality of this product cannot be matched by less expensive purifiers

This is so good that a friend whose child suffers from severe asthma and who has an Oreck air filter that cost about 800 which broke down as soon as the warranty expired could actually sense how much cleaner the air was when she was in the vicinity of the Austin and asked me where she could buy one She asked even though I have had this for nearly 10 years one filter change so far by the calendar not because I sensed it stop working

I can t recommend it strongly enough

While it is a bit noisy it s an even background noise not at all irritating and I am a real noise crank in fact when my neighbors have a party their dining room wall is my bedroom wall the hum actually is an added bonus and helps me to fall sleep

I should mention that when the wind shifted one night after 9/11 here in NY I got a heavy dose of the smoke cloud and so could barely breath when I arrived home I closed myself in the bedroom turned on the Austin filter and was fine

I have severe chemical sensitivities I ve tried almost every filter on the market that is supposed to take fragrances etc out of the air but I ve found none that lives up to their promises like the ones with the carbon filters by Austin I have this in my home and it is certainly worth every penny I spent Any perfumes or other fragrances that enter my home are taken care of pretty efficiently by this For my 1100 sq ft home I keep this one in my bedroom and the Healthmate plus also by Austin Air in the living room and together they really keep the air clean In fact I usually cannot tell if there is a skunk nearby unless I open a door or a window and my house is certainly not air tight

The main difference between this one and the Healthmate Plus is that the Healthmate Plus works the best on chemicals/fragrances in the air where this one is a good all purpose filter that also takes fragrances out of the air This is why I keep it in my bedroom I have a dust allergy and while the Healthmate Plus is certainly good at taking dust out of the air but we chose the Allergy Machine for my bedroom

There are three settings low medium and high High is pretty loud but not an irritating sound low isn t too loud but it is certainly not silent You don t hear the motor rather it is the airflow coming out that makes the sound It is what I consider a gentle white noise sound

It has wheels they don t lock that move very well and I ve never had one fall off In fact I find these machines very well made not shabby and I ve had them for five years They are made of metal and not plastic and I ve never had to air one out

If you buy this for chemical sensitivities make sure it is the one with the carbon zeolite filter If it is missing that one and therefore about 100 cheaper the other filters can become contaminated with fragrances and don t air out quickly We accidentally didn t order the right filter the first time and found out the hard way after days of airing one out outside with the filter running on full it didn t improve We then ordered the carbon zeolite filter and were pleased that my husband didn t have a hard time taking this apart to replace the filter it wasn t completely easy as the filter isn t really light but it was certainly doable

One thing you should do is to vacuum the holes on the outside once in a while because they will start getting a little clogged up with dust after a couple years or less if you don t vacuum or dust often

The filter is good for four years and if you contact the manufacturer before then needing a new one we use ours ALL the time and so needed to replace ours after three they will as of a few months ago at least prorate a replacement

Overall I m very pleased and would highly recommend this

We bought this filter for our new apartment after several weeks of feeling terrible congestion puffy watery eyes feeling tired coughing etc because we knew there was some sort of non hazardous mold and dust combo at the root of it This puppy looked like it d do the trick and for 6 days we felt awesome It worked very well But on day seven the rotator inside this thing literally fell off the axle and ceased to work any longer We were unable to fix it ourselves and we found that once we opened up the packaging we owned it No returns were permitted but we were allowed to pay for S H back to the manufacturer for them to fix it The problem I have with this item is that the price is six times our cheap filters and Alen s ghetto manufacturer hotline and inability to provide us with a new working filter indicates it shouldn t be worth this much

UPDATE Alan the manufacturer never called us back after we left 5 messages We threw our 600 filter into landfil

Quiet and efficient was what we were hoping for and we got it This unit uses half the electricity of my previous much smaller air cleaners and it is whisper quiet with four speed control We use it on level 2 at night in the bedroom and level 3 during the daytime Seldom go to level 4 but even when we do the sound level is quite acceptable Filtration is great though we have not yet used it through the Spring allergy season

I bought this unit 3 years ago for my son who suffers severe allergies during spring/fall season I did my research and found out that Blueair is top of the list for it s function despite the cost It has four levels to the switch and first one is HEPA Silent which you don t hear Second level is also very quiet Third level sounds like quiet fan white noise and last one is very loud and I only turn it on when I m vacuuming the house The filters are quit expensive and need to be replaced every 6 months But when you take out the old filter you don t regret buying this machine because the filter which used to be white has turn to almost charcoal grey/black color Also I think you need to suck up dust from the machine s internal side now and then to make sure that the machine works properly Because first six months I did nothing and when I opened the machine to replace filter it was caked with dust inside So now I open up and clean inside with powerful vacuum evern two months to prevent dust build up
I m actually looking into buying another one for bedroom And I know the maintenece cost will double but I totally think it s worth it

I ve been using Aireox air cleaners in my home and cars for about 16 years and wouldn t buy any other kind I have severe chemical sensitivity from an on the job incident and they do the job for me They are simple easy to clean open vacuum the outside of the filter replace and quiet Buy a new filter to replace the one inside it when you can again smell stuff that it didn t clean out of the air about 1 year I run mine 24/7 on low and have for 16 years straight

The only problem that some of my older ones have had is with the switch max setting didn t work after a while My newest one just purchased from Amazon does not have that problem It wouldn t bother me if it did because these air cleaners are the best in any case Cleans everything out of the air formaldehyde mold gasses smoke etc During the horrible fires in California a while back I just ran my Aireox and kept the windows closed and had clean air in the house

My wife requested that we purchase this air filter to reduce allergens and dust in our partially built home s air I was skeptical about the unit due to the cost and several reviews at various vendors citing noise and poor fan bearing performance appealing to me was the size shape and ability to wall mount it So with a little goading from her we decided to accept the risk and try it out

It is an impressive little unit We run it on setting 2 which moves quite a bit of air in near silence when we are home Settings 3 and 4 are fairly loud but I think that is unavoidable given the massive amount of airflow these settings generate versus the size of the unit The unit is now in constant use again almost exclusively at setting 2 with the ionizer active for over three weeks without any change in performance so I expect we will not have any problems with it in the short run The room in which it is located is 650 sq ft Dust reduction is substantial but I will wait longer before determining just how well it works in that regard

The main reason I paid 437 dollars for this air purifier is the statement on the description page here on Amazon in relation to the duration of warranty 10 year warranty

I received the unit the packaging says the product has 10 year warranty too But the warranty booklet that comes out of the box says the warranty is for 1 ONE YEAR ONLY This is very very disappointing especially since the price is exorbitant for an air purifier which is MADE IN CHINA

I contacted BlueAir they have not responded at all Amazon customer service has responded though Thank you Amazon But it seems all they can do is issue me a refund not enforce the warranty terms and duration It is the responsibility of the manufactuter to honor the warranty terms And Blueair has not even replied

I thought all the glowing reviews on the Rabbit Air Minus 2 were alot of bunk until I received my unit I have an IQair Health Pro system which is considered to be the best filter system out there but it s pretty noisy even at low speeds So I thought I d check this unit out since it claims to be very quiet but never dreamed it would be competitive to the IQ Air in particle removal Much to my surprise using my Dylos Laser Particle counter not only was the Rabbit nearly twice as quiet but the air purification rate both large coarse and fine particles was comparative While my particulate test was certainly not a rigorous analysis nor did I test for VOCs it was a good enough estimate for me to conclude the Rabbit Air Minus A2 is comparable to the IQ air in particle removal but unlike the IQ Air nearly silent even on high speed it looks very cool too

This is a real good product and all the glowing reviews are certainly consistent with my evaluation Bravo Rabbit

This is a no frills HEPA air filter in terms of its aesthetic it s an efficiently designed rectangle and though it s not snazzy on the outside it s not offensive or obtrusive either

It sits in my home office and does its thing quite well cleansing the air and overall improving the living conditions in a space in which I spend entirely too much time

I ordered this unit because I had begun to develop dust allergies in my mid thirties and was having trouble focusing and getting work done I noticed an improvement in the way I was feeling shortly after the unit was put into operation

The unit though not cheap is a particularly reliable model and is extremely cost effective to operate over time As any one who has done the research can tell you the true expense with HEPA filters is not necessarily the up front purchase cost but the cost of replacement filters over the course of the years Austin s design is one they stand behind with a 5 year warranty and a filter rated at needing replacement once every 5 years yes you read that right All you need do in order to achieve this longevity is to vacuum the pre filter every few months This is accomplished by running a bristled vacuum wand over the outer surface grating It s simple It really is set a reminder in your calendar to run the vacuum over it and you re safe

The unit doesn t take up a lot of room though it does produce a fair bit of sound in 2 of its 3 settings The base setting is actually pretty quiet but the middle and upper settings are noisy the trade off is that at these settings it moves A LOT of air which is what you want if you re trying to quick cleanse a room To give you an idea of what I m trying to say while you likely wouldn t have a hard time sleeping with setting 1 you might with setting 2 and you DEFINITELY would with setting 3 Of course everyone s mileage varies and I m using words to describe an audible volume which is not the same as hearing it yourself As I said earlier it s in my office not my bedroom so I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with its performance

It did the job It s nice and quiet on the low setting On the high setting it s a bit noisier but I just set it in a corner and it s fine Not right up against the wall though because you have to leave a few inches of space around it for it to work right I left it running for over a year The smoke smell is gone from the house now Even my mother with her super sensitive nose can t smell anything when she comes to visit

I did buy a new filter after about nine or ten months The air coming out of the Healthmake Junior started to smell a bit acrid I called Austin Air and asked about it because I thought the filter should last longer They said it depends on the quality of your air That makes sense They gave me a discount on the new filter because it had been such a short time

I m quite pleased with it It looks nice it s relatively light it s simple to use it s quiet and it works

The title pretty much sums it up I took it out of the box plugged it in switched it on and don t really think about it anymore
I live on a busy street and the air inside the house was very dusty
With this thing running it is substantially cleaner
even when sunlight streams in I cannot see any dust in the air
At highest setting it is audible but not objectionable I keep it at max minus one and don t hear it at all

It showed up with a small dent in the side which I should have complained about but didn t
The shipping package could have been better

I should start with the fact that everyone in our household has allergies even the dog I think but that had not been confirmed Currently we have the Blueair units in all the bedrooms and family room The best thing about Blueair units is they work We really feel a difference Before getting Blueair my wife was not able to sleep thru the night She would get congested and her throat would get dry so she kept waking up to drink water Whatever was giving her trouble is now gone from the air and she is finally able to get a good nights sleep
Outside the fact that this unit cleans the air I do also like that it is steel construction I did a lot of research and that is hard to find its quiet and its energy efficient As for warranty the warranty card says mail in for free 5 year warranty

Changing the pre filter the one that needs attention most often is a freakin pain in the you know what I hate it This task should be easier condsidering the price of the unit

This thing is amazing at filtering the air While there is a trade off between noise and high volume filtration it has 6 settings so you can adjust even has its own remote If this was a bit cheaper it would be no contest with any other system but it is expensive If you need or want truly great air purification this is the one you want Note that first 2 days or so you get a bit of a vinyl smell from v5 filter but its not bad Really Really wish I had gotten one of these years ago Operation and setup couldn t be simpler also comes with loads of information as well as guarantees and testing certification I like that filters can be changed individually and that it has automatic notification lights for each filter on control panel This is a big unit almost a foot square and nearly waist height so you need to find a spot for it that s out of the way but not right up against a wall needs at least a foot of clearance to work properly Also no ozone so its good for allergies and for asthma as well as anyone that has need to keep dust down or eliminate odors or fumes from things like neighbor s construction projects ozone irritates membranes in lungs which can cause asthma attacks in some people

I figured if I spent a lot of money on a good air purifier than my problem with cigarette smoke coming in my room from my neighbors house would go away
It didn t help at all It also does not help with dust My pre filter needs to be changed already and I ve only had the unit for 4 months
Save your money If your problem is cigarette smoke this unit is not the answer

After 1 month of use this unit earns my highest recommendation I researched air purifiers for about a week before buying two IQAir units one with the odor filter Pro Plus and one without Pro to help with allergies and asthma symptoms that my family suffers from Both of them work absolutely perfectly with significant symptom relief within the first week of use The packaging was very secure with each unit contained in double boxes similar to what you find with high end stereo equipment including thick styrofoam inserts for cushioning The unpacked units were sparkling new and clean with an inspection page that detailed the performance at each of the five individual speeds The manual was nicely organized and easy to comprehend

These are sturdy units that are somewhat heavy but come with a convenient handle recessed on the top as well as caster wheels to roll the unit if you need to move it periodically The manual recommends clearance of at least 12 inches on all sides for optimal performance so keep this in mind for placement in your room It is noisy at the highest setting but works very effectively at quieter settings 2 or 3 in my 13 x 16 room I also use an IQAir unit in a 20 x 20 room and it cleans the air very well at setting 3 My son noticed so much improvement in his allergies and breathing after just two days of use that when I moved the unit to another room for a night he begged me to return it to his bedroom We went on vacation for a few days and he said that he could not wait to get back home because he missed the IQAir purifier

If you are comparing the units with and without the odor filter even the one without the odor filter leaves the air smelling fresh and clean In fact for the first week the one with the odor filter had a bit of a peculiar smell to it which might have been coming from the odor filter itself Unless you have a really significant odor problem you can save the extra 100 that you pay for the Pro Plus over the Pro model The units look identical from the outside and you can order a retrofit assembly from the IQAir if you later want to convert your Pro to Pro Plus Each unit has a remote that is slightly larger than a credit card which is very convenient if I want to change the setting after I get into bed

In summary these IQAirs are well worth the price which isn t as much as it seems after you factor in the yearly filter replacement cost which is lower than most other brands I wish that I had discovered IQAir years ago before wasting my money on other air purifiers I am so impressed that I am about to order a third IQAir to use in my office I have previously owned the following air purifiers none of which came anywhere close to my IQAir units Oreck XL Air8D Oreck XL 4000 Holmes various sizes Honeywell the largest big round one Sharper Image Ionic Breeze I hated cleaning the Oreck units which were overpriced and their replacement filters were also very expensive on a yearly basis The Orecks also left a lot of dust all around them The motor burned out on my large Oreck unit just after the two year warranty expired The Honeywell filter was also very expensive and the unit was extremely noisy The Holmes units were ok for very small rooms but had to be on the noisiest high setting to notice any air cleaning had flimsy construction and required frequent filter changes The Sharper Image units were basically useless as they did not improve the air quality or our allergy symptoms they went back to the store after three weeks

Every morning I would wake up coughing up something I tried sleeping at two different houses and I would still wake up coughing After using this for one night the coughing decreased the next day By the end of the first week I would wake up without coughing I was skeptical after my previous air purifier seemed to make matters worse but after one month I love it

I ve also used the fan timer as an alarm in the morning incase I hit the snooze button to many times So if your half asleep and the fan kicks on at level six it will catch your attention But it is not loud too loud to wake me from a dead sleep

I bought this air purifier after reading several rave reviews all over the web After much consideration mostly due to the price and research I decided to purchase one for my apartment I was not disappointed Delivery was prompt and the product arrived in perfect condition it was packed very well and came with great documentation I also noticed when unpacking the unit how well built and solid it is
This air purifier works great and I immediately noticed a difference in air quality so much so that I have even been sleeping better My apartment is prone to exhaust fumes and I also have a couple of pets so dander was a concern to me Based on how much better I have been feeling lately I would say that the IQ HealthPro is doing it s job
My only minor gripe would be when the purifier is in on any setting over 3 it is fairly noisy Just be mindful of placement and you will have no worries

I moved back into my home after spending a number of years in Colorado after leaving all my furniture etc to fend for itself After 3 months of being home I developed chronic cough phlegm etc and even vacuuming and dusting wasn t cutting it So I ordered two of these one for the front of the house and one for my master suite plus a Austin Air Healthmate Jr for the guest room I couldn t be happier with the products They are the best at what they do for the money which is about half of what you d pay for an IQ Air unit Of course I did have the carpets shampooed also But I would definately spend the money on these again Highly recommend for quiet operation sturdy construction price and followup costs for filter changes

After doing a lot of research on quality and effectiveness I chose the Austin air I purchased one for my upstairs and liked it so much I recently purchased a second one I was lucky enough to get the R200 01 01 cheaper on A Z for 324 00 no tax 19 00 shipping It was a steal compared to Amazon s prices and other vendors on the internet I even got the larger one not the Jr size It was brand new not refurbished I also found that some website vendors challenged consumers for a cheaper price any where else and they would honor the price Check it out It runs 450 00 everywhere else
